Jenny, WAIT Alumni Scholarships Campaign donor

Curtin's campaign to extend WAIT's legacy of opportunity is well underway.

Since its launch last year, the WAIT Alumni Scholarships Campaign has seen a growing collective of WAIT and Curtin alumni uniting to give back.

In comparison to the days of WAIT, today's increases in living expenses and fees mean that for many young people achieving a university education is difficult. Individuals and organisations from across our community have joined our call to build a scholarship endowment fund to provide opportunity to future generations of Curtin students.

One such donor is Jenny Lau, who graduated in Accounting from WAIT in 1972.

Jenny decided to donate to the campaign as she wanted "to assist students who want to advance their lives, but may not have enough money to continue with their studies".

She counts her Accountancy qualification as central to her long and rewarding career, having worked for Shell in Miri, Malaysia, for 23 years. Now retired, Jenny explains that she was pleased to have the opportunity to "help and pay back, as the Australian Government more or less sponsored my education during my years of study."

She recalls her time studying at WAIT fondly, enjoying the strong friendships that she made, and is still in touch with some of her peers today.
